Reunion
of Anthropology Alumni of Jahangirnagar University
The second and the largest (so far) reunion of Anthropology Alumni of Jahangirnagar University was held in the University premises on February 29, 2008. More than 500 participants comprising Anthropology Alumni, current students, teachers and staff members of the department along with family members attended the reunion, making it the largest ever gathering of Anthropologists in Bangladesh.
One of the major agendas of the Reunion was to
form an Alumni Association. Coordinator of the Reunion, Dr. Siddiqur
Rahman Appollo initiated the discussion.
Later on, Dr. Talim Hossain was anonymously selected as the founder President of AAAJU.
Also the off springs of the Anthropologists were awarded with some gifts in the Reunion.
Extending hands towards Siddique Bhai
The first successful initiative of AAAJU was to extend hands towards Siddique Bhai, the first ever staff member of the Department of Anthropology, JU. AAAJU collected Tk. 1,10,600/= for his treatment. Alumni Association of Jahangirnagar University (AAJU) USA Chapter contributed Tk. 50,000/= in this purpose.
First ever picnic of AAAJU
The first ever picnic of AAAJU was held in the Jamuna Resort on March 13, 2009. Everybody enjoyed the picnic thoroughly with additional boat riding.
Career
Counseling Workshop
The AAAJU successfully organized a Career Counseling Workshop for the outgoing MSS students of JU Anthropology on July 04, 2009 at Jahangirnagar University. Participation from both the current students and alumni members were enthusiastic.
